IDA TESSA MCCAUGHEY (SABERTON) December 20, 1916 - November 3, 2015 Ida passed away peacefully with family by her side for most of her last week. Mom was a woman filled with energy and love of life who was born before her time. She could easily be the perfect homemaker with sparkling, well decorated house, good meals and hand sewn clothes etc. but she had tons of extra energy and abilities. Ida would have loved to have had a demanding career. She kept busy supporting our activities, volunteering and doing part time work as a typing instructor and sales rep for Hoky. She loved shopping and was excellent at finding high quality bargains. She taught us all well! Before marrying Dad, she was a secretary at Eaton's and after we were grown she was a secretary at the U. of M. She enjoyed many sports her whole life such as swimming, tennis, golf, skating, cycling and walking. Most she enjoyed into her 90's at the two places closest to her heart, Penniac Bay at West Hawk Lake and Waikiki, Hawaii. She loved music and dancing and she and Dad enjoyed going to the Wildewood club every Saturday night when we were kids. Parties were always fun with Kiwanis friends, lake friends and Hawaii friends. Later in life, Ida loved her day trips to the States playing the nickel machines. She was encouraging to others with her positive outlook, resiliency, resourcefulness and "can do" attitude. She always dressed well. In her last years as dementia robbed her of her independence, she accepted help gracefully and it seemed she radiated love. The sparkle in her eyes and smile on her face was very much appreciated by all. She enjoyed services at Meadowood Manor as she had enjoyed church her whole life in Fort Garry and at the lake. Ida will lovingly be remembered by her son Bill, daughter Barbara McMullen (Clare), grandchildren Kelly Deveau (Claude) and Michael McCaughey (Misa), Larissa Webster, (Olivier Fortat), Marie Webster and Karla Webster Gill (Steve) and great-grandchildren, Brendan, Benjamin, Gabrielle, Riley, Jackson, Anjali and Ryuu. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1983, his siblings, her sister Margaret and her infant granddaughter Deborah. A Celebration of Ida's life will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Meadowood, 1111Dakota St.
